Limits and Important Notes

Result type: Exact calculation

Calculation Details

  • Convert hours and minutes into total minutes.
  • Divide total minutes by the playback multiplier.
  • Subtract adjusted time from original time to find time saved.

Formula

Adjusted listening time = original duration ÷ playback speed

Rounding

The formula uses full precision; displayed durations round to the nearest minute.

Default Assumptions

  • Playback speed remains constant for the whole title.
  • The entered duration is the original 1× runtime.
  • Pauses, silence trimming, chapter gaps, and app-specific processing are excluded.

Verified Example

Inputs: 10 hours, 0 minutes, played at 1.5×.

Calculation: 600 minutes ÷ 1.5 = 400 minutes; 600 − 400 = 200 minutes saved.

Result: Adjusted time = 6 hr 40 min; time saved = 3 hr 20 min.

  • Real completion time includes pauses and interruptions.
  • Some titles or apps may not support every entered speed.
  • A speed below 1× makes listening time longer rather than shorter.
