High school GPA planning
Compare the effect of regular, honors, AP, and IB classes on a default weighted scale.
Calculate your weighted and unweighted GPA from letter grades, credits, and regular, honors, AP, or IB course levels.
Add each course, letter grade, credit value, and course level.
| Course | Grade | Credits | Level | Remove |
|---|
Default scale: A/A+ = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, and so on. Honors adds 0.5 and AP/IB adds 1.0 for the weighted estimate. Schools may use different scales or caps.
A GPA calculator converts course grades into grade points and averages them according to course credits. This page reports both an unweighted GPA on a common 4.0 scale and a weighted estimate that adds points for honors, AP, or IB courses.
The same credit-weighted method can help estimate middle school, high school, or college GPA, but every institution can define its own grade values, weighting bonuses, exclusions, and GPA cap.
Enter a name for each class and select its letter grade.
Set the course credits and choose Regular, Honors, or AP/IB.
Optionally enter your earlier unweighted GPA and completed credits for a cumulative estimate.
Review the weighted, unweighted, and optional cumulative results.
Each letter grade is converted to grade points. The calculator multiplies those points by the course credits, adds the quality points, and divides by total credits.
For the weighted estimate, honors adds 0.5 and AP or IB adds 1.0 before credits are applied. The cumulative calculation combines prior quality points with the current term.
An A in a 3-credit class and a B in a 1-credit class produce (4.0 × 3 + 3.0 × 1) ÷ 4 = 3.75 unweighted GPA.

Enter each course grade and credit hours to estimate a credit-weighted semester result.
Add a prior GPA and completed credits to combine earlier work with the current term.
Calculate your grade from points or weighted categories, then find the exact score you need on your final exam to reach a target course grade.
